WHO Infection Prevention and Control Global Newsletter, 5 April 2023

Published on April 13, 2023

We are only two weeks away from the celebration of 5 May 2023, WHO’s World Hand Hygiene Day (WHHD)!

Now is a critical time when countries across the world need to accelerate implementation of lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic by maintaining good hygiene actions and increase investments to close gaps in infection prevention and control (IPC), including hand hygiene. Hand hygiene saves millions of lives every year when performed at the right moments during health care delivery. It is also a smart investment that offers exceptional return for each dollar invested. Clean care is a sign of respect to those who seek care, and it protects health and other workers who provide that care.

We are excited to reach out to you now to share the 2023 WHHD campaign resources and proposed activities and ask you to accelerate their use and dissemination in all health care settings!

Please visit the 2023 WHHD campaign webpage to view and download this year’s resources- several of which are available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and Chinese. You can also find a summary in the attached April Newsletter.

The Campaign Guide has been  prepared with civil society and other partner organizations in mind to support 2023 WHHD activities and is relevant for other audiences as well. Visit this resource for step-by-step guidance about how to use all the available campaign resources.
