Preventing infections and antibiotic resistance has been a major public health priority by French public authorities since the 1990s–2000s and continues to be so today.  France now has an advanced national infection prevention and control (IPC) programme that aligns with the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended core components for IPC.  More information here: France: a broad vision of infection prevention and control and the importance of local action (who.int)
